Received a call from Jean, telling us that the garlands are ready for collection. Immediately, we went down to Vanda Win Trading… the garlands were fantastic and I thought they did a very good job. Can’t wait to see it up on the stage backdrop.

After Ju’s facial, we went down to Verge (former Tekka Mall) to source for flowers for our stage decor. In the end, thanks to Jean from Vanda Win Trading, we managed to get her designer to do up 2 sets of rose garlands for the decor. She will give us a call once it’s ready.

I received an email follow by a call from Jane, Simply Flowers. She asked me how much I paid for my stage backdrop…and apparently she had a couple who will be having their wedding (at Conrad) 1-2 weeks after ours… and she hoped to re-use back then same backdrop.i.e She wanted to co-share the cost of our backdrop. I told her frankly that I paid about $600+ for it …and guessed what now…. She said she will pay $300 and I pay $300. Even a kid will know it doesn’t make sense at all. The $600 I am paying cover transportation, manpower, material etc… Does that mean her transportation and manpower will be FOC?
I told her it’s impossible and even Jason thought she was joking. In the end, she did not accept the re-quote that Jason has given her.

As we are running short of time, I thought we should just have a simple stage backdrop accompany by the runway. My friend Eric Ong recommended me to Jason from House of Props, and he immediately knew what I had in mind. Based on my idea and mock up to him, he actually improved and suggested some options.
As the backdrop may look very plain, I thought of putting up some flowers/leaves on the side… and to keep the cost down, I decided to source it out on my own.

And guessed what, this was what I received from her:

Honestly, I wasn’t very happy with what I saw. It’s a once in a lifetime event, and you expect me to pay so much for such a quality and how do you expect someone to visualize your concept with a couple COPY & PASTE images in a powerpoint slides….I was totally disappointed!
Anyway, after a few email correspondents, I decided not to engage her service.

We went shopping at Central Mall and happened to come across “Simply Flowers“. Was talking to the shop owner, Jane and came to know that they do wedding backdrop and decor… and since I’ve not finalised on the stage design, I decided to get Jane to give us a quote and concept design. As she was quite busy that day, she said she will email me the quote later.
Looking forward to hear from Jane soon… as we are really running short of time.
Back home, I sent Jane a mock up of what I had in mind for my stage backdrop.
